Bible Verses about 'Fool'

Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool.Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool.
Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool; even less are lies fitting for a ruler.Excellent speech is not becoming to a fool, Much less lying lips to a prince.
Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise.A fool despises his father’s instruction, But he who receives correction is prudent.
A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.A fool’s wrath is known at once, But a prudent man covers shame.
The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces. The wise in heart will receive commands, But a prating fool will fall.
Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling. It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.
Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back.
Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.
Fools’ words get them into constant quarrels; they are asking for a beating.A fool’s lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows.
Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words. The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious, But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up.
The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little.
People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness. He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly.
A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother.A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
And a great road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-minded people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways; fools will never walk there.A highway shall be there, and a road, And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, But it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, Shall not go astray.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
