- Whoever hides hatred has lying lips,
And whoever spreads slander is a fool. - Excellent speech is not becoming to a fool,
Much less lying lips to a prince. - The wise in heart will receive commands,
But a prating fool will fall. - A fool despises his father’s instruction,
But he who receives correction is prudent. - It is honorable for a man to stop striving,
Since any fool can start a quarrel. - A fool vents all his feelings,
But a wise man holds them back. - A fool has no delight in understanding,
But in expressing his own heart. - A fool’s lips enter into contention,
And his mouth calls for blows. - A fool’s wrath is known at once,
But a prudent man covers shame. - Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace;
When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive. - The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious,
But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up. - Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
- A highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray. - A wise son makes a glad father,
But a foolish son is the grief of his mother. - For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
The heart of the wicked is worth little. - He who walks with wise men will be wise,
But the companion of fools will be destroyed. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction. - But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
- When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it;
For He has no pleasure in fools.
Pay what you have vowed. - See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
- And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”
- Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.Next verse!With image
