- The one who conceals hatred has lying lips,
and whoever utters slander is a fool. - Fine speech is not becoming to a fool;
still less is false speech to a prince. - A fool despises his father's instruction,
but whoever heeds reproof is prudent. - The wise of heart will receive commandments,
but a babbling fool will come to ruin. - It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling. - A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back. - A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing his opinion. - A fool's lips walk into a fight,
and his mouth invites a beating. - The vexation of a fool is known at once,
but the prudent ignores an insult. - The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor,
but the lips of a fool consume him. - Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise;
when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. - Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
- A wise son makes a glad father,
but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother. - And a highway shall be there,
and it shall be called the Way of Holiness;
the unclean shall not pass over it.
It shall belong to those who walk on the way;
even if they are fools, they shall not go astray. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the heart of the wicked is of little worth. - Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
but the companion of fools will suffer harm. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction. - When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.
- And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
- Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
