Bible Verses about 'Fool'

Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool.Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool.
Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool; even less are lies fitting for a ruler.Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool— how much worse lying lips to a ruler!
Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise.A fool spurns a parent’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.
A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult.
The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces. The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.
Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling. It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.
Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.
Fools’ words get them into constant quarrels; they are asking for a beating. The lips of fools bring them strife, and their mouths invite a beating.
Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.
Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.
Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious, but fools are consumed by their own lips.
The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.
People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother.A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
And a great road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-minded people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways; fools will never walk there. And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
