For they said to you, “In the final age there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly passions.” It is these people who create divisions, who follow their natural instincts and do not possess the Spirit. | They said to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.” These are those who cause divisions and are sensual, not having the Spirit. |
May God continue to bless us and be revered to the ends of the earth. | God will bless us. All the ends of the earth shall fear him. |

I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who is to baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ | I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’ |

You are the light of the world. A city built upon a mountain cannot be hidden. | You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. |

In the same way, even the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs that cannot be put into words. | In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered. |
The righteous is remembered with blessings, but the name of the wicked fades away. | The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot. |
Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. | Our help is in Yahweh’s name, who made heaven and earth. |
The reward of humility and fear of the Lord is wealth, honor, and life. | The result of humility and the fear of Yahweh is wealth, honor, and life. |
The tongue has the power over life and death; those who cherish it will enjoy its fruits. | Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit. |
For the word of the Lord is true, and he is faithful in everything he does. | For Yahweh’s word is right. All his work is done in faithfulness. |
I am confident that I will behold the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. | I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living. |
The blessing of the Lord is what brings wealth, and our toil adds nothing to it. | Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it. |
Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in accord with the law of the Lord. | Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to Yahweh’s law. |
The tongue of the just man is like pure silver; the heart of the wicked is without worth. | The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth. |
The hope of the righteous brings them joy, but the expectations of the wicked are frustrated. | The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish. |
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. | Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry. |
Blessings are showered on the head of the righteous, but sorrow will cover the face of the wicked. | Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. |
Be doers of the word and not just hearers who only deceive themselves. | But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. |
Blessed is the man whom God reproves. Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. | Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. |
One who despairs should have the support of his friends even if he has forsaken the fear of the Almighty. | To him who is ready to faint, kindness should be shown from his friend; even to him who forsakes the fear of the Almighty. |
