Giving to the needy (2/4)

The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be to you; just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
For so the Lord has commanded us, ‘I have appointed You as a light to the Gentiles, That You may bring salvation to the end of the earth.’For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”
The Lord will send His goodness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life.By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.
Salvation belongs to the Lord; May Your blessing be upon Your people! SelahFrom the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.
So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, so that they will be praised by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, so that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I am commanding you.Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.
Now then, do away with the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.“Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, he is to be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
Jesus said to him, “If you want to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
And sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage battle according to the flesh.For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
And heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, And His ears are toward their cry for help.The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.

To do righteousness and justice Is preferred by the Lord more than sacrifice.To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
