Giving to the needy (3/4)

  • Out of the depths I have cried to You, Lord.
    Lord, hear my voice!
    Let Your ears be attentive
To the sound of my pleadings.
  • Now then, do away with the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.
  • Before the mountains were born
Or You gave birth to the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
  • And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, he is to be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
  • For so the Lord has commanded us,
‘I have appointed You as a light to the Gentiles,
That You may bring salvation to the end of the earth.’
  • So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
  • For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
  • You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
  • For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,
And His ears attend to their prayer,
But the face of the Lord is against evildoers.
  • But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.
  • Now about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
  • And sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”
  • In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace.
  • And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
  • He said to them, “But who do you yourselves say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
  • And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people.”
  • I will raise my eyes to the mountains;
From where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
    Who made heaven and earth.
  • But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
  • But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
  • And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.”
  • For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
  • When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look at them?
  • Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me will not be hungry, and the one who believes in Me will never be thirsty.”
  • And almost all things are cleansed with blood, according to the Law, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
  • The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
    Because the Lord anointed me
    To bring good news to the humble;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
    To proclaim release to captives
    And freedom to prisoners.

And he would answer and say to them, “The one who has two tunics is to share with the one who has none; and the one who has food is to do likewise.”

Bible verse of the day

And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.
