- Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever. - Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. - If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
- Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path. - But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile.
- How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity! - I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.” - Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
- But test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.
- A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. - The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him. - How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
“Your God reigns!” - He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the Lord. - The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. - I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love.
- For he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things. - Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor. - You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love to all who call to you. - For, “Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.
They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it.” - For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
- Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
- Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act. - The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
- Seek good, not evil,
that you may live.
Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say he is. - Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.Next verse!With image
