It is rash to pledge a sacred gift, or to make a vow and then have second thoughts. | It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows. |
You have given me the shield of your salvation; your right hand sustains me, and your goodness makes me great. You broadened the path beneath me so that my feet have never stumbled. | You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great. You enlarged my path under me, So my feet did not slip. |
I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. | These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. |
