| And so it was, because the midwives feared God, that He provided households for them. | And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own. |

| Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. | Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. |
| For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. | For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy. |
| The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. | The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. |
| Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. | Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. |
| He who covers a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates friends. | Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. |
| He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good. | To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. |
| He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. | He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. |
| But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. | But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my decrees and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die. |
| Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. | And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation. |
| And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” | And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” |
| He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. | Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. |
| As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. | He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. |
| Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” | Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” |
| And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. | In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. |
| I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. | I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. |
| Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” | Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” |
| And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” | Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” |
| Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. | I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. |
| He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. | Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful. |
| You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. | But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. |
