- Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
- If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.
- I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
- Where could I go from your Spirit?
Or where could I flee from your presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, you are there.
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there! - Enter in by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in by it. How narrow is the gate and the way is restricted that leads to life! There are few who find it.
- In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom. He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’
- I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.
- For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Arise, Yahweh!
God, lift up your hand!
Don’t forget the helpless. - Behold, God is my helper.
The Lord is the one who sustains my soul. - I will lift up my eyes to the hills.
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from Yahweh,
who made heaven and earth. - Our help is in Yahweh’s name,
who made heaven and earth. - And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- So that with good courage we say,
“The Lord is my helper. I will not fear.
What can man do to me?” - God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble. - Yahweh God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
- When I said, “My foot is slipping!”
Your loving kindness, Yahweh, held me up. - Yahweh is my strength and my shield.
My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped.
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices.
With my song I will thank him. - For I, Yahweh your God, will hold your right hand,
saying to you, ‘Don’t be afraid.
I will help you.’ - Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name.
Deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name’s sake. - Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
- Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.
- In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
- Why are you in despair, my soul?
Why are you disturbed within me?
Hope in God! For I shall still praise him,
the saving help of my countenance, and my God. - But he knows the way that I take.
When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.
My foot has held fast to his steps.
I have kept his way, and not turned away.
Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
Yes, I will help you.
Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.May Yahweh our God be with us as he was with our fathers. Let him not leave us or forsake us. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.Next verse! With image
