- He who walks blamelessly and does what is right,
and speaks truth in his heart;
he who doesn’t slander with his tongue,
nor does evil to his friend,
nor casts slurs against his fellow man. - The testimony is this: that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
- That he may guard the paths of justice,
and preserve the way of his saints. - But he knows the way that I take.
When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.
My foot has held fast to his steps.
I have kept his way, and not turned away. - Behold, Yahweh’s eye is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his loving kindness. - The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom.
All those who do his work have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever! - By this we know that we remain in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
- He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul,
but he who is contemptuous in his ways shall die. - Like a father has compassion on his children,
so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him. - He called the multitude to himself with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
- For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.

Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh,
who delights greatly in his commandments. - Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh,
the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance. - Yahweh God made garments of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them.
- Yahweh restored Job’s prosperity when he prayed for his friends. Yahweh gave Job twice as much as he had before.
- But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
- The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.
- Don’t envy the man of violence.
Choose none of his ways.
For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh,
but his friendship is with the upright. - If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
- You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.
- For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
- In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom. He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’
- My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
- Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
- Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
