He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. | Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. |

One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination. | When anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayer is detestable. |
In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. | In my anguish I cried out to the Lord and called to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. |
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope. | I wait for the Lord in anxious expectation; I place my hope in his word. |
He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He. | He is a rock, his deeds are perfect, and all of his ways are just. He is a God of truth who does no wrong; he is just and upright. |
But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them. | But from everlasting to everlasting the kindness of the Lord is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children, with those who keep his covenant and diligently observe his commandments. |
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem. | The wealth of a rich man is his stronghold; he regards it as a high wall that cannot be scaled. |
Can one walk on hot coals, And his feet not be seared? | Or can a man walk on red-hot coals without scorching his feet? |
For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. | For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more certain it is that, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. |
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. | Finally, find your strength in the Lord and in his mighty power. |
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. | She will give birth to a son, and you shall name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. |

Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways. | Blessed are all those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways. |
There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. | Therefore, a Sabbath rest still remains for the people of God, since those who enter into God’s rest also cease from their own labors as God did from his. |

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. | No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends. |
You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. | It is the Lord, your God, whom you are to follow. You must fear him and observe his commandments and obey what he tells you and serve him and hold fast to him. |
He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. | Anyone who is victorious will be dressed like these in white robes, and I shall not blot his name from the book of life. Rather, I shall acknowledge it in the presence of my Father and his angels. |
He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. | He sent forth his word and healed them, saving them from the grave. |
The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered. | With his mouth the godless man seeks to ruin his neighbor, but knowledge enables the righteous to be delivered. |
He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die. | Whoever observes the commandments will live, but the one who scorns them will die. |
