- It is honorable to avoid strife,
but every fool is quarrelsome. - Finally, brethren, let your minds be filled with whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, whatever is excellent, whatever is worthy of praise.
- Anyone who leads an honorable life walks in safety,
but whoever pursues wicked ways will be found out. - An honorable name is more to be desired than great riches,
and high esteem is preferable to silver and gold. - If you refrain from traveling on the Sabbath
and from engaging in your own interests on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a day of joy
and regard the Lord’s holy day as honorable,
if you honor it by not going your own way,
serving your own interests,
or attending to your own affairs;
then you will find true happiness in the Lord,
and I will enable you to ride
upon the heights of the earth.
I will nourish you with the heritage of your father Jacob,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - It is the will of God that you should lead a life of sanctity. You must refrain from sexual immorality. Each of you must learn to acquire a wife from pure and honorable motives, not to gratify passion like the Gentiles who do not know God.
- Let marriage be held in honor by all, and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for those who are immoral and adulterers will have to face God’s judgment.
- Who among you is wise and understanding? Prove by your good life that your works are done with the humility that comes from wisdom.
May the Lord, our God, be with us, just as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or abandon us. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but rather a spirit of power and of love and of wisdom.Next verse!With image
