| And said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.” | And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. |
| Brethren, you were called to freedom. However, make sure that you do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Instead, serve one another in love. | For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. |

| For the Lord takes delight in his people, and he crowns the humble with salvation. | For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. |
| For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. | For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. |
| Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory because of your kindness and faithfulness. | Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake. |
| Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven. For all of his works are right, and all of his ways are just. Also, he is able to humble all those who follow the path of pride. | Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. |
| The Lord makes poor and makes rich, he humbles and he also exalts. | The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. |
| Woe to anyone who rises up against his Maker, or to the pot that is displeased with the potter. Does the clay say to the one who molds it, “What are you doing? Your work makes no sense.” | Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? |
| So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. | If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. |
| Come forth! Let us bow down to worship him; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker. | O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. |
| This must not be so with you. Instead, whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your servant. | But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. |
| For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow before me, and every tongue shall give praise to God.” | For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. |
| Whenever you fast, do not assume a gloomy expression like the hypocrites who contort their faces so that others may realize that they are fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. | Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. |
| To him who in all things is able through the power that is at work within us to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus through all generations, forever and ever. Amen. | Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. |
| Rather, revere Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be prepared to offer an explanation to anyone who asks you to justify the hope that is in you. However, do so with gentleness and respect. | But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. |
| The brother who is in modest circumstances should take pride in being raised up. Likewise, the one who is rich should glory in being brought low, for he will disappear like a flower of the field. | Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. |
| What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? | What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? |
| This is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ | After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. |
| Hear my prayer, O Lord; do not be deaf to my cry or ignore my weeping. For I am a wayfarer before you, a nomad like all my ancestors. | Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. |
| Rejoice with all your heart, O daughter Zion. Shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem. See, your king is coming to you, triumphant and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. | Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. |
| Amen, amen, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. |
