| Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. | Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done. |

| And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. | Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one. |
| Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. | Welcome those who are weak in faith, but not for the purpose of quarreling over opinions. |
| He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. | Like a city breached, without walls, is one who lacks self-control. |
