Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? | Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? |
However, those who want riches fall into temptations and are trapped into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. | But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. |

While he was departing as they gazed upward toward the sky, suddenly two men dressed in white robes stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking up into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.” | While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing, who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky, will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.” |
Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.” | He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to the whole creation.” |
He said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not realize that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not into the heart but into the stomach and is discharged into the sewer?” Thus, he pronounced all foods clean. | He said to them, “Are you also without understanding? Don’t you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can’t defile him, because it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach, then into the latrine, making all foods clean?” |
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. | Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. |
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him. | For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. |
Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ. | But speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ. |
He cried out, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” And with these words he breathed his last. | Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” Having said this, he breathed his last. |
Then, after he had spoken to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven, and there he took his place at the right hand of God. | So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. |

Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. | Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. |
You will again show us compassion and wash away our guilt; you will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. | He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. |
God’s love was revealed to us in this way: God sent his only-begotten Son into the world so that we might have life through him. | By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his only born Son into the world that we might live through him. |
May the Lord guide your hearts to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ. | May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and into the perseverance of Christ. |
I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and returning to the Father. | I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father. |
For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out. If we have food and clothing, let us be content with these. | For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that. |
For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, Jews as well as Greeks, slaves as well as free men, and we were all given the same Spirit to drink. | For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit. |

However, the one who looks intently at the perfect law of freedom and perseveres—not forgetting what he has heard but putting it into practice—will be blessed in everything he does. | But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. |
The lips of a fool cause strife, and his mouth provokes a flogging. | A fool’s lips come into strife, and his mouth invites beatings. |
The whispers of a gossiper are tasty morsels that corrode one’s inner being. | The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person’s innermost parts. |
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is preferable for you to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna. | If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. |
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you. | But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. |
