| But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. | He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. |

| The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him. | The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. |
| He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. | He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. |
| Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. | Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. |

Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. | And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. |
