A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.A man’s pride will bring him low, but lowly souls will rise to honor.
The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.The Lord makes poor and makes rich, he humbles and he also exalts.
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.The brother who is in modest circumstances should take pride in being raised up. And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.When pride is nurtured, disgrace soon follows, but wisdom is the hallmark of the humble.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.Rejoice with all your heart, O daughter Zion. Shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem. See, your king is coming to you, triumphant and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.Grant justice to the weak and the orphan; defend the rights of the lowly and the poor.
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children.Hence, be imitators of God, as beloved children.
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.He was despised and shunned by others, a man of sorrows who was no stranger to suffering. We loathed him and regarded him as of no account, as one from whom men avert their gaze.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering.As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven. For all of his works are right, and all of his ways are just. Also, he is able to humble all those who follow the path of pride.
For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.For the Lord takes delight in his people, and he crowns the humble with salvation.
And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right?
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.If we claim that we have fellowship with him while we continue to live in darkness, we are lying and do not live in the truth.
God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.God is faithful, and it is by him that you have been called into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life and honor too.
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers.
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.He brought you low, allowing you to suffer from hunger. He then fed you with manna, something with which your fathers were not familiar, so that you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger.
