- Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers. - You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall possess.
- And keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.
- Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
but the companion of fools will suffer harm. - For the customs of the peoples are vanity.
A tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
They decorate it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
neither is it in them to do good. - Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
- Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
- God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer's;
he makes me tread on my high places. - But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
- If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them, then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
- What is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him? - It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in man. - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
- Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
- For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.
- But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
- The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me? - For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
- There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way to death. - For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- What is desired in a man is steadfast love,
and a poor man is better than a liar. - For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
- How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word. - But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
