- As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
we wait for you, O Lord;
your name and your renown
are all that our heart desires. - There is no salvation in anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to men by which we can be saved.
- Teach me your ways, O Lord,
so that I may walk in your truth;
let me worship your name
with an undivided heart. - An honorable name is more to be desired than great riches,
and high esteem is preferable to silver and gold. - However, to those who did accept him
and who believed in his name
he granted the power to become children of God. - Anyone who is victorious will be dressed like these in white robes, and I shall not blot his name from the book of life. Rather, I shall acknowledge it in the presence of my Father and his angels.
- This is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.’ - O Lord, you are my God.
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for you have accomplished wonderful things,
formulated in ages past, faithful and sure. - But for you who fear my name
the sun of justice will arise
with its healing rays.
You will emerge leaping
like calves released from the stall. - O Lord, grant us salvation.
O Lord, grant us success.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
We bless you from the house of the Lord. - He builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and establishes his vault of the sky over the earth—
the Lord is his name. - And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
- Peter answered, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
- You did not choose me.
Rather, I chose you.
And I appointed you
to go out and bear fruit,
fruit that will remain,
so that the Father may give you
whatever you ask him in my name. - The crowds that preceded him and those that followed kept shouting:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!” - I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. - On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
- Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.”
- However, the Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything
and remind you of all
that I have said to you. - Your kindness is a greater joy than life itself;
thus my lips will speak your praise.
I will bless you all my life;
with uplifted hands I will call on your name. - I intend to prove the holiness of my great name which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. Thus, the nations will know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God, when through you I will display my holiness in their sight.
- Blessed are you when people hate you and ostracize you, when they insult you and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.
- Therefore, you will be given this sign
by the Lord himself:
The virgin will be with child,
and she will give birth to a son,
and she will name him Immanuel. - Whoever believes in him is not condemned,
but whoever does not believe in him
already stands condemned,
because he has not believed in the name
of the only-begotten Son of God. - And if then my people who bear my name humble themselves and pray to me and seek my presence as they turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and restore their land.
