| God gave the midwives numerous families because they had feared God. | And because the midwives feared God, He established households for them. |

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. |
| What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life? | For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul? |
| If anyone thinks that he is religious but does not restrain his tongue, he is deceiving himself, and his religion is worthless. | If anyone thinks himself to be religious, yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this person’s religion is worthless. |
| However, each one of you should love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife should respect her husband. | Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to love his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband. |
| Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless is the man devoid of self-control. | Like a city that is broken into and without walls So is a person who has no self-control over his spirit. |

| They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and offered worship and service to the creature rather than to the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices. Likewise, men gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameful acts with men and received in their own persons the fitting penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since these people did not see fit to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their depraved way of thinking and to all types of vile behavior. | For they exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature, and likewise the men, too, abandoned natural relations with women and burned in their desire toward one another, males with males committing shameful acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper. |
| How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms. | For this reason You are great, Lord God; for there is no one like You, and there is no God except You, according to all that we have heard with our ears. |
