Bible Verses about 'PROVERBS'
- Hatred stirs up strife,
But love covers all sins. - Can one walk on hot coals,
And his feet not be seared? - As iron sharpens iron,
So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. - A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps. - My son, if your heart is wise,
My heart will rejoice—indeed, I myself. - A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger. - For whoever finds me finds life,
And obtains favor from the Lord. - Do not overwork to be rich;
Because of your own understanding, cease! - A man’s gift makes room for him,
And brings him before great men. - A fool’s lips enter into contention,
And his mouth calls for blows. - When pride comes, then comes shame;
But with the humble is wisdom. - Commit your works to the Lord,
And your thoughts will be established. - Do not turn to the right or the left;
Remove your foot from evil. - Ponder the path of your feet,
And let all your ways be established. - Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies. - Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a reproach to any people. - As in water face reflects face,
So a man’s heart reveals the man. - A fool vents all his feelings,
But a wise man holds them back. - A faithful witness does not lie,
But a false witness will utter lies. - In all labor there is profit,
But idle chatter leads only to poverty. - A friend loves at all times,
And a brother is born for adversity. - A fool’s wrath is known at once,
But a prudent man covers shame. - Put away from you a deceitful mouth,
And put perverse lips far from you. - Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
And the man who gains understanding. - By humility and the fear of the Lord
Are riches and honor and life. - The blessing of the Lord makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it. - He guards the paths of justice,
And preserves the way of His saints. - Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,
But a good word makes it glad. - Let your eyes look straight ahead,
And your eyelids look right before you. - The rich rules over the poor,
And the borrower is servant to the lender. - Better is a little with righteousness,
Than vast revenues without justice. - I have taught you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you in right paths. - A man’s pride will bring him low,
But the humble in spirit will retain honor. - He who finds a wife finds a good thing,
And obtains favor from the Lord. - Whoever hides hatred has lying lips,
And whoever spreads slander is a fool. - A perverse man sows strife,
And a whisperer separates the best of friends. - The wise in heart will receive commands,
But a prating fool will fall. - Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
But the Lord weighs the hearts. - Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy. - Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life. - It is honorable for a man to stop striving,
Since any fool can start a quarrel. - By pride comes nothing but strife,
But with the well-advised is wisdom. - Hear, my son, and receive my sayings,
And the years of your life will be many. - The hand of the diligent will rule,
But the lazy man will be put to forced labor. - The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom,
And before honor is humility. - For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. - Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty,
And before honor is humility. - There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death. - A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones. - The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
But the poor does not hear rebuke.
