Bible Verses about 'PROVERBS'
- Hatred stirs up strife,
But love covers all offenses. - Or can a person walk on hot coals
And his feet not be scorched? - As iron sharpens iron,
So one person sharpens another. - My son, if your heart is wise,
My own heart also will be glad. - Do not weary yourself to gain wealth;
Stop dwelling on it. - The mind of a person plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps. - A fool’s lips bring strife,
And his mouth invites beatings. - A gentle answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger. - For one who finds me finds life,
And obtains favor from the Lord. - Commit your works to the Lord,
And your plans will be established. - A person’s gift makes room for him
And brings him before great people. - Watch the path of your feet,
And all your ways will be established. - Do not turn to the right or to the left;
Turn your foot from evil. - Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a disgrace to any people. - In all labor there is profit,
But mere talk leads only to poverty. - A fool always loses his temper,
But a wise person holds it back. - A trustworthy witness will not lie,
But a false witness declares lies. - An excellent wife, who can find her?
For her worth is far above jewels. - When pride comes, then comes dishonor;
But with the humble there is wisdom. - A friend loves at all times,
And a brother is born for adversity. - Rid yourself of a deceitful mouth
And keep devious speech far from you. - Blessed is a person who finds wisdom,
And one who obtains understanding. - As in water a face reflects the face,
So the heart of a person reflects the person. - A fool’s anger is known at once,
But a prudent person conceals dishonor. - Anxiety in a person’s heart weighs it down,
But a good word makes it glad. - The reward of humility and the fear of the Lord
Are riches, honor, and life. - It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich,
And He adds no sorrow to it. - Better is a little with righteousness
Than great income with injustice. - A person’s pride will bring him low,
But a humble spirit will obtain honor. - Avoiding strife is an honor for a person,
But any fool will quarrel. - The rich rules over the poor,
And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave. - He who finds a wife finds a good thing
And obtains favor from the Lord. - A perverse person spreads strife,
And a slanderer separates close friends. - One who conceals hatred has lying lips,
And one who spreads slander is a fool. - Guarding the paths of justice,
And He watches over the way of His godly ones. - I have instructed you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you in upright paths. - Every person’s way is right in his own eyes,
But the Lord examines the hearts. - Let your eyes look directly ahead
And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. - Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And defend the rights of the poor and needy. - Honor the Lord from your wealth,
And from the first of all your produce. - Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life. - The wise of heart will receive commands,
But a babbling fool will come to ruin. - Listen, my son, and accept my sayings,
And the years of your life will be many. - The hand of the diligent will rule,
But the lazy hand will be put to forced labor. - A joyful heart is good medicine,
But a broken spirit dries up the bones. - For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. - The ransom of a person’s life is his wealth,
But the poor hears no rebuke. - A wise son makes a father glad,
But a foolish son is a grief to his mother. - The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom,
And before honor comes humility. - A soothing tongue is a tree of life,
But perversion in it crushes the spirit.
