- The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. - In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

for he is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He is eager to relent and not punish. - The hopes of the godly result in happiness,
but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing. - The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great,
and he never lets the guilty go unpunished.
He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm.
The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.
