Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. | For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. |
A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. | The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself. |

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. | As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. |
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. | Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. |
What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar. | What is desired in a man is kindness, And a poor man is better than a liar. |

He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. | One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. |
A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends. | A perverse man sows strife, And a whisperer separates the best of friends. |
If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. | If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. |
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. | A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. | How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. |

God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” | Who “will render to each one according to his deeds” |
How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath. | Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath. |
But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die. | But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. |
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. | Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. |
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. | Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. |
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret. | A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter. |
A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word! | A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! |
A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. | Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts. |
“Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.) | So He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?” |
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. | There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. |
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding. | Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding. |
