Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares about you. | Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. |
Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right? | And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? |

While Peter was thus imprisoned, the Church prayed fervently to God for him. | Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. |
The end of all things is near. Therefore, lead disciplined lives and be watchful in prayer. | But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. |
Above all, maintain the fervor of your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. | And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. |
Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may advance on the path to salvation. | As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. |
As servants of God, behave as free people, but do not use your freedom as a means to cover up wrongdoing. | As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. |
Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you. | Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. |
Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, filled with love for one another, compassionate, and humble. | Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. |
Remain sober and alert, for your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. | Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. |
You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God. | Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. |
“But you,” he said to them, “who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” | He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. |
Yet even if you should suffer for doing what is right, you are thereby blessed. Have no fear of others, and refuse to be intimidated by them. | But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled. |
But do not ignore this one fact, beloved: with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. | But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. |
He who called you is holy. Therefore, be holy yourselves in all your conduct. For Scripture says, “Be holy, for I am holy.” | But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. |
Rather, grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for all eternity. Amen. | But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. |
No prophecy ever came from human initiative. Rather, when people spoke as messengers of God, they did so under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. | For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. |
And I say to you: You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld will not prevail against it. | And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. |
This, in fact, is what you have been called to do, because Christ himself suffered for you and left an example for you to follow in his footsteps. | For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps. |
Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment. | The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. |
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. | Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. |
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer. However, the face of the Lord is set against those who do evil. | For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. |
Therefore, prepare your minds for action. Be calm and fix your hopes completely on the grace that you will be granted at the revelation of Jesus Christ. | Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. |
Do not repay evil with evil or abuse with abuse. On the contrary, repay with a blessing. This is what you were called to do, so that you might inherit a blessing. | Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. |
Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you should arm yourselves also with the same intention. For anyone who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin. | Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin. |
