- The wicked borrows and does not pay back,
But the righteous is gracious and gives. - The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
And He delights in his way. - For the Lord loves justice
And does not abandon His godly ones;
They are protected forever,
But the descendants of the wicked will be eliminated. - Lord, all my desire is before You;
And my sighing is not hidden from You. - Hear my prayer, Lord, and listen to my cry for help;
Do not be silent to my tears;
For I am a stranger with You,
One who lives abroad, like all my fathers. - I delight to do Your will, my God;
Your Law is within my heart. - You, Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me;
Your mercy and Your truth will continually watch over me. - As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So my soul pants for You, God. - My soul thirsts for God, for the living God;
When shall I come and appear before God? - Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;
All Your breakers and Your waves have passed over me. - The Lord will send His goodness in the daytime;
And His song will be with me in the night,
A prayer to the God of my life. - Why are you in despair, my soul?
And why are you restless within me?
Wait for God, for I will again praise Him
For the help of His presence, my God. - For by their own sword they did not possess the land,
And their own arm did not save them,
But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence,
For You favored them. - God is our refuge and strength,
A very ready help in trouble. - Stop striving and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted on the earth. - Be gracious to me, God, according to Your faithfulness;
According to the greatness of Your compassion, wipe out my wrongdoings.
Wash me thoroughly from my guilt
And cleanse me from my sin. - Create in me a clean heart, God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me. - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
A broken and a contrite heart, God, You will not despise. - Behold, God is my helper;
The Lord is the sustainer of my soul. - Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. - When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in You. - In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? - Be exalted above the heavens, God;
May Your glory be above all the earth. - For Your goodness is great to the heavens
And Your truth to the clouds. - But as for me, I will sing of Your strength;
Yes, I will joyfully sing of Your faithfulness in the morning,
For You have been my refuge
And a place of refuge on the day of my distress.
