- For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
- Tear your heart and not your garments,
and turn to Yahweh, your God;
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness,
and relents from sending calamity. - Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts.
Let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him,
to our God, for he will freely pardon. - That their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ.
- A man’s heart plans his course,
but Yahweh directs his steps. - Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God. - For he satisfies the longing soul.
He fills the hungry soul with good. - How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word. - For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.
- Lord, all my desire is before you.
My groaning is not hidden from you. - Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.
- Open your mouth, judge righteously,
and serve justice to the poor and needy. - Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’
- Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.
- I will be glad and rejoice in you.
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. - For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s farming, God’s building.
- Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
- Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
- Honor Yahweh with your substance,
with the first fruits of all your increase. - He who turns away his ear from hearing the law,
even his prayer is an abomination. - Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
equity and every good path. - I will give thanks to Yahweh with my whole heart.
I will tell of all your marvelous works. - Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion!
Shout, daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King comes to you!
He is righteous, and having salvation;
lowly, and riding on a donkey,
even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. - He who walks blamelessly walks surely,
but he who perverts his ways will be found out. - In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom. He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’
