Keep alert; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. | Watch! Stand firm in the faith! Be courageous! Be strong! |
But I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the end he will stand upon the dust. | But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth. |

What right do you have to pass judgment on someone else’s servant? The master will determine whether that servant will stand or fall. But the servant will be upheld, for the Lord has the power to enable him to stand. | Who are you who judge another’s servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand. |
Therefore, keep watch, for you do not know the day when your Lord is coming. | Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes. |
Put on the armor of God so that you will be able to stand firm against the deceit of the devil. | Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. |
It was for freedom that Christ set us free. Therefore, stand firm and refuse to submit again to the yoke of slavery. | Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. |
And whenever you stand in prayer, forgive whatever grievance you have against anybody, so that your Father in heaven may forgive your wrongs too. | Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions. |
The Lord will protect you against all evil; he will watch over your life. The Lord will watch over your coming and your going both now and forevermore. | Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. |
For to you a thousand years are like a yesterday that has passed or one of the watches of the night. | For a thousand years in your sight are just like yesterday when it is past, like a watch in the night. |
Stay awake and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. | Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. |
If the Lord does not build the house, those who construct it labor in vain. If the Lord does not guard the city, those who keep watch over it do so in vain. | Unless Yahweh builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain. |
Therefore, put on the armor of God, so that you will be able to hold fast on the evil day and to hold your ground with all your strength. | Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. |
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the company of scoffers. | Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. |
These are the words of the Lord of hosts: Stand at the crossroads and look around; ask for the ancient paths. When you are shown where the good way lies, walk along it and your souls will find rest. However, they said, “We will not take it.” | Yahweh says, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” |
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress, so that I stand unshaken. | He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken. |
Observe my Sabbaths and stand in awe before my sanctuary. I am the Lord. | You shall keep my Sabbaths, and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am Yahweh. |
Behold, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with that person and that person with me. | Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me. |
And now, brethren, I want to remind you of the gospel I proclaimed to you, which you received and in which you stand firm. Through it you are also being saved, provided that you are holding fast to what I proclaimed to you. If not, then you have believed in vain. | Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. |
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress, so that I stand ever unshaken. | He alone is my rock, my salvation, and my fortress. I will never be greatly shaken. |
Be on your guard that you do not lose what we have worked to accomplish so that you will receive your reward in full. | Watch yourselves, that we don’t lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward. |
I urge you, brethren, to watch out for those who incite dissensions and obstacles in opposition to the teaching that you have learned. Take care to avoid them. | Now I beg you, brothers, look out for those who are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them. |
For he guards the paths of justice and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones. | That he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints. |
So we must not fall asleep as the others do, but we must stay alert and sober. | So then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober. |
The grass may wither and the flower may fade, but the word of our God will endure forever. | The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever. |
Stand firm, then, with the belt of truth fastened around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness clothing you, and with your feet shod in zeal to proclaim the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold in your hand the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. | Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. |
