- The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes. - The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
- The name of the righteous is used in blessings,
but the name of the wicked will rot. - The prospect of the righteous is joy,
but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. - Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. - Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth. - Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
- No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
- The vine is dried up
and the fig tree is withered;
the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree—
all the trees of the field—are dried up.
Surely the people’s joy
is withered away. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value. - Blessings crown the head of the righteous,
but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. - May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
- I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. - Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
- “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
- The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
- Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
- The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
- The lips of the righteous know what finds favor,
but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. - Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;
for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous. - I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.
- He builds his lofty palace in the heavens
and sets its foundation on the earth;
he calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out over the face of the land—
the Lord is his name.
