Bible Verses about 'Talk'

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters and to be well-pleasing in all things, not contradicting, not stealing, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things.
Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues. In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints.
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy of Yahweh honorable, and honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you will delight yourself in Yahweh, and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth, and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father;” for Yahweh’s mouth has spoken it.
But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”But they, when they saw him walking on the sea, supposed that it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw him and were troubled. But he immediately spoke with them and said to them, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”
After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
