Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? | Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” |
I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. | I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. |
|
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. | Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” |
I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. | I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. |
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. | “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. |
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. | And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ |
Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. | ‘Return to me,’ declares the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the Lord Almighty. |
I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter. | I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king. |
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. | Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. |
I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. | I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. |
And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. | Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” |
In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul. | When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. |
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. | Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. |
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. | You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. |
Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold. | Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold. |
Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. | Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me.” |
In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. | In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? |
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. | So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” |
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. | Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” |
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. | I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. |
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. | Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. |
Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. | Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart. |
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. | Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. |
If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. | If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him. |
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. | But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. |
