| Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. | Instead, let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord. | Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. |

| But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil. | Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. |
| Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. | God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. | Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. |
| The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve. | The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. |
| You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver. | For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. |
| But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. | First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. | Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me. |
| Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. | Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. |
| I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. | I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. |
| I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me. | As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. |

| As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. | Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. |
