Chinese (traditional)- Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
- Incline my heart to your testimonies,
and not to selfish gain! - Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
- But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
- In the way of your testimonies I delight
as much as in all riches. - To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.
- But I am the Lord your God
from the land of Egypt;
you know no God but me,
and besides me there is no savior. - For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
- In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
- If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. - Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
- For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
“I the Lord search the heart
and test the mind,
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.” - No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
- Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
- For the customs of the peoples are vanity.
A tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
They decorate it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
neither is it in them to do good.
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
