Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?“Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord God, “rather than that he would turn from his ways and live?”
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose on their behalf.
Who will render to every man according to his deeds.Who will repay each person according to his deeds.
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.Consequently, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.
A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. It goes well for a person who is gracious and lends; He will maintain his cause in judgment.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God must also love his brother and sister.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.One who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But one who is careless of conduct will die.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul?
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.
A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.A fool always loses his temper, But a wise person holds it back.
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.A fool’s anger is known at once, But a prudent person conceals dishonor.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. Many will be purged, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.
And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses. And because the midwives feared God, He established households for them.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every person who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor—this is the gift of God.
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.Furthermore, as for every person to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also given him the opportunity to enjoy them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.A fool does not delight in understanding, But in revealing his own mind.
The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.Words from the mouth of a wise person are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him.
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them.
