| “Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked?” says the Lord Yahweh, “and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?” | Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live? |
| Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is counted wise. When he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning. | Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues. |

| A fool shows his annoyance the same day, but one who overlooks an insult is prudent. | Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult. |

| Who are you who judge another’s servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand. | Who are you to judge someone else’s servant?
