- In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom. He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’
- For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.
- Pride only breeds quarrels,
but wisdom is with people who take advice. - For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s farming, God’s building.

and your ways are not my ways,” says Yahweh. - While we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
- But above all things, my brothers, don’t swear— not by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath; but let your “yes” be “yes”, and your “no”, “no”, so that you don’t fall into hypocrisy.
- Woe to him who strives with his Maker—
a clay pot among the clay pots of the earth!
Shall the clay ask him who fashions it, ‘What are you making?’
or your work, ‘He has no hands’? - Examine your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don’t you know about your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
- Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning,
for I trust in you.
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
for I lift up my soul to you. - “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.
- But many will be last who are first, and first who are last.
- Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
- Or can one walk on hot coals,
and his feet not be scorched? - Honor widows who are widows indeed.
- Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous.
His ears listen to their cry. - Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh,
but those who do the truth are his delight. - My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
