Why do bad things happen (3/4)

Praise the Lord in song, for He has done glorious things; Let this be known throughout the earth.Sing to the Lord, For He has done excellent things; This is known in all the earth.
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I look at a virgin?I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman?
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And it happened that He was passing through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples began to make their way along while picking the heads of grain. The Pharisees were saying to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” And He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions became hungry; how he entered the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the consecrated bread, which is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests, and he also gave it to those who were with him?” Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. And the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” But He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?” And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”
Do not participate in the useless deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place, as to whether the Christ was to suffer, and whether, as first from the resurrection of the dead, He would proclaim light both to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles. Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.
I, I Myself, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of mortal man, And of a son of man who is made like grass.I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you.But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You.But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.
Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; Whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But wrongdoers will stumble in them.Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them.
In addition to all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Now if a person sins and does any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, he is still guilty and shall bear his punishment. If a person sins, and commits any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord, though he does not know it, yet he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity.

In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
