Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
