- My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad. - Place your hope in the Lord:
be strong and courageous in your heart,
and place your hope in the Lord. - Seek the Lord while he still may be found;
call to him when he is close at hand. - Ensure that the path you tread is level,
and then your ways will be sure. - If a man has recently been married, he is not to go off to battle nor have any other duty laid on him. He will be free to stay at home for one year so that he can bring happiness to the wife whom he has married.
- Jesus answered them,
“I am the bread of life.
Whoever comes to me will never be hungry,
and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” - But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.”
- He is not here. He has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified and rise again on the third day.
- They answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, and so too will your household.”
- When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
nor will the waters engulf you.
When you walk through fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not consume you. - Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good.
- But the one who did not know those wishes, and who acted in such a manner as to deserve a beating, will be beaten less severely. Much will be demanded of a person to whom much has been given, and even more will be asked of a person to whom more has been entrusted.
- Do not be lacking in zeal, but serve the Lord with spiritual fervor.
- For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall also be united with him in his resurrection. We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that our sinful body might be destroyed and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.
- The end of all things is near. Therefore, lead disciplined lives and be watchful in prayer.
- “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again.
“As the Father has sent me,
so I send you.” - I will establish my covenant with you: never again will all living creatures be cut off by the waters of a flood, nor will the earth be laid waste by a flood again.
- I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise will be continually on my lips. - Therefore say to them, “Thus says the Lord God: The fulfillment of my words will not be delayed any longer. What I have said will be done now. This is the word of the Lord God.”
- What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
- In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me. - Finally, find your strength in the Lord and in his mighty power.
- He made him who did not know sin to be sin for our sake, so that through him we might become the righteousness of God.
- Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting,
but the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. - Do not let anyone lead you astray. “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
