| I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. | As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. |
| Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. | I am coming quickly; hold firmly to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. |
| He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. | He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. |
| And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. | Now, little children, remain in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not draw back from Him in shame at His coming. |

| The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. | The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time and forever. |
| Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. | And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant in My blood.” |

For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. | So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. |
| And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. | And the one who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. |
| Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. | For this reason you must be ready as well; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. |
| But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. | After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. |
| As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. | As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, God. |
| And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. | Then, when they had fasted, prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. |
| It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry. | It is a trap for a person to say carelessly, “It is holy!” And after the vows to make inquiry. |

| The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. | The heavens tell of the glory of God; And their expanse declares the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. |
| Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit. | I have seen that every labor and every skill which is done is the result of rivalry between a person and his neighbor. This too is futility and striving after wind. |
