Bible Verses about 'Compassion'

  • Like a father has compassion on his children,
so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him.
  • He will again have compassion on us.
He will tread our iniquities under foot.
You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
  • Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance.
  • Can a woman forget her nursing child,
that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?
    Yes, these may forget,
yet I will not forget you!
Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.
Your walls are continually before me.
  • Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous.
  • But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?
  • Thus has Yahweh of Armies spoken, saying, ‘Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother. Don’t oppress the widow, the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.’
  • “They shall be mine,” says Yahweh of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make. I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.”
  • “For the mountains may depart,
    and the hills be removed,
but my loving kindness will not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace will not be removed,”
says Yahweh who has mercy on you.
  • Therefore Yahweh will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you, for Yahweh is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.
  • Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving kindness.
According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity.
    Cleanse me from my sin.
  • I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and I will save the house of Joseph.
    I will bring them back,
for I have mercy on them.
They will be as though I had not cast them off,
for I am Yahweh their God, and I will hear them.
  • Nevertheless in your manifold mercies you didn’t make a full end of them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God.
  • Yahweh is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.
  • Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts.
Let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him,
to our God, for he will freely pardon.
  • Therefore be merciful,
even as your Father is also merciful.
  • Yahweh, remember your tender mercies and your loving kindness,
for they are from old times.
Don’t remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions.
Remember me according to your loving kindness,
    for your goodness’ sake, Yahweh.
  • And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
  • Don’t withhold your tender mercies from me, Yahweh.
Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me.
  • He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper,
but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
  • Yahweh your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you if you return to him.
  • But you go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
  • It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed,
    because his mercies don’t fail.
    They are new every morning.
    Great is your faithfulness.
  • Tear your heart and not your garments,
    and turn to Yahweh, your God;
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness,
    and relents from sending calamity.
  • Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Bible verse of the day

Examine your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don’t you know about your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
