| They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. | Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. |
| If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable. | He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. |

| I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. | In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. |

| But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” | But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled. |

| In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. | So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. |
| You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. | Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. |
| And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. | And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. |

| But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. | But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints. |

| When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. |
| After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. | And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. |
