- This saying can be trusted:
If we have died with him,

“I will remain with you
only for a short time longer,

to him who sent me.” - Behold, I am coming soon, and I will bring with me my reward to repay everyone as his deeds deserve.
- I have made a covenant with my eyes
not to look with desire upon a virgin. - Do the things that you have learned, received, and heard from me and that you saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
- Hear, O Israel, the Lord, our God, is Lord alone. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
- My mouth is filled with your praises
as I relate your glory all day long. - Make your ways known to me, O Lord;
teach me your paths. - I keep the Lord always before me,
for with him at my right hand
I will never fall. - I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I am. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
- During the day the Lord grants his kindness,
and at night his praise is with me,
a prayer to the living God. - It is better to have little and be righteous
than to acquire great riches with injustice. - Let the word of Christ with all its richness dwell in you. Teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God with gratitude in your hearts.
- All of these were constantly engaged in prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
- Therefore, we can say with confidence:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can anyone do to me?”
