And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. | And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. |
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. | To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. |

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. | Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. |
My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. | My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. |
Give us today our daily bread. | Give us this day our daily bread. |
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. | If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. | In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. |
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. | And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. |
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. | And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. |
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. | So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. |
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. | And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. |
We love because He first loved us. | We love him, because he first loved us. |
Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. | Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. |
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. | For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. |
These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. | But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. |
We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. | And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. |
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. | He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. |
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. | The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. |
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. | O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. |
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. | The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. |
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. | If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. |
Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ | And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. |
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. | Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. |
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. | For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps. |
