Chinese (traditional)- While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
- But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
- I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
- After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
- We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
- Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted. - The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
- For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
- As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him. - But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
- ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
- As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him. - Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
extol him who rides on the clouds;
rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling. - Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.
- Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.”
- I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.
- For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
- Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.
- Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
- For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
- “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
- And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
- The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all. - But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
- “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
For the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.” And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.Next verse!With image
