Diligent labor always yields profit, but idle conversation only leads to poverty. | In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury. |
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall lack. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me to tranquil streams. | The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. |

Enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and those who find it are few in number. | Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. |
There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death. | There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. |
Such godly sorrow results in repentance that leads to salvation and causes no regret, whereas worldly sorrow produces death. | For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. |
He gives a home to those who are forsaken and leads out prisoners amid chants of exultation, while rebels are forced to live in an arid land. | God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land. |
Anyone who leads an honorable life walks in safety, but whoever pursues wicked ways will be found out. | He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. |
Whoever heeds admonition is on the path to life, but anyone who rejects correction goes astray. | He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth. |
Good and upright is the Lord; therefore, he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them the path to follow. | Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. |
The one who leads a blameless life and does what is right, who speaks the truth from the heart and does not slander anyone, who does not harm a friend and does not scorn a neighbor. | He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. |
When pride is nurtured, disgrace soon follows, but wisdom is the hallmark of the humble. | When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. |
An ignorant man causes strife by his insolence, but wisdom is found with those who take advice. | Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. |
The desires of the flesh result in death, but the desires of the Spirit result in life and peace. | For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. |
However, now that you have been freed from sin and bound to the service of God, the benefit you receive is sanctification, and the end is eternal life. | But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. |
Where many words are spoken, sin is not absent, but whoever restrains his tongue is prudent. | In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. |
Whoever observes the commandments will live, but the one who scorns them will die. | He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die. |
However, you, dear friends, must build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you await our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy, who will grant you eternal life. | But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. |
Jesus addressed them once again, saying, “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness. Rather, he will have the light of life.” | Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. |
Hence, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. | There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. |
They will never again experience hunger or thirst, nor will the sun or any scorching heat cause them discomfort. For the Lamb who is at the center of the throne will be their shepherd. He will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. | They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. |
