Let my teaching fall on you like rain; let my speech settle like dew. Let my words fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants.Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.
In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.
Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.”For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. But I will be merciful only if you stop your evil thoughts and deeds and start treating each other with justice; only if you stop exploiting foreigners, orphans, and widows; only if you stop your murdering; and only if you stop harming yourselves by worshiping idols. Then I will let you stay in this land that I gave to your ancestors to keep forever. If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your ancestors for ever and ever.
