- It is better to take refuge in Yahweh,
than to put confidence in man. - Praise Yah!
Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh,
who delights greatly in his commandments. - Or can one walk on hot coals,
and his feet not be scorched? - So that with good courage we say,
“The Lord is my helper. I will not fear.
What can man do to me?” - He was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath day?”
He said to them, “Did you never read what David did when he had need and was hungry—he, and those who were with him? How he entered into God’s house at the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?”
He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.” - Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge, and to crucify; and the third day he will be raised up.
- Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.
- God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.
- Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you.
Bind them around your neck.
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor,
and good understanding in the sight of God and man. - Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
but Yahweh weighs the hearts. - But Yahweh said to Samuel, “Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.”
- The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
but the poor hear no threats. - A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge;
but the simple pass on, and suffer for it. - Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and doesn’t sin.
- Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects.
Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. - But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
- It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling. - One man esteems one day as more important. Another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind.
- It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.
He will maintain his cause in judgment. - Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction. He opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
- Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins; and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
- Like a city that is broken down and without walls
is a man whose spirit is without restraint. - Yahweh God made garments of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them.
- Yahweh God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever—” Therefore Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
- Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stand on the path of sinners,
nor sit in the seat of scoffers.
